308 Vs. 328

Which would you prefer? The car Magnum P.I. drove, or the newer, more displacement, 328?

I think I'd take a 308.

The best 308 is the fiberglass GTB --- lighter, weber carbs... Nothing sounds like the Ferrari V8 playing thru a TUBI exhaust with the Webers.

BUT, the 328 offers more than just 3.2L. It gives you updated interior, better engine performance(compared to the smogged last years of the 308), 16" stock wheels(308s had 14" and some of those oddball 390mm TRX), better cooling system, heavy duty clutch, better water pump as well as a lot of other small improvements. Most 308s were USA models so the bumpers got pretty strange because of the requirements. Euro versions were always more appealing. I think the 328 also looks better(subjective of course) because of the louvers in the front and the rear spoiler bar across the back(some 308s had variations of these). The 328 is a much more refined car.:) :) :)

You'd know, cause you have one right? I like the 328 better also. It is much more refined.I know a guy with a 308 GTB and he sas it's pretty fast but it has engine problems with the oil system. He says that the Italians say the engine is "breathing" when it leaks oil. Do you know anything about the CraigFL?

Engines that are sealed properly don't leak oil. There are several places where seals fail and they do leak -- distributor shafts and camshaft pulleys. Some of the problem is that people don't drive their cars enough so seals deteriorate/flat spot causing the leakage. Remember, some 308s are 25 years old while some 328s are 15 years old (mine is an '86). They're not difficult or expensive to replace, if you do it yourself but costly if you go to the dealer -- they find other things to replace too (just like most dealers).

hmm.....I think I'd take a 328, just cause they are a bit newer and more updated, but the 308's looks are classic....hmm....

Craig...you seriously have a 328?!?! That's SWEET man. Hey, how 'bout you come up here and take me for a drive......:D:D

If anything makes me want a 308 more than a 328........

Thanks CraigFL, the problem is that he dosen't drive it very often and the car is very old. It's a 78' that he got for his wife when they were in Florida. It's from Shelton Sportscars, and in Ottawa, Canada, so I don't think he has any intentions of taking it n to get serviced. The closest Ferrari Dealership from Ottawa would be near Toronto anyways.
