Hyundai- Much better car manufactuer now than it was before, 10 year warranty is great, but if you start to seriously modify then the 10 year warranty goes Kaboom.

Tiburon- Much better car now than it was before, especially the GT V6 model. Very capable but underrated by many, stock for stock can hang with Sentra SE-Rs, Civic SIs, MazdaSpeed Protege, and etc. Aftermarket support isn't as big for this car as it is for the others in it's class, although I believe there is a supercharger available for it.

Accent- Forget about it.

Nissan- Means fun. Very sporty cars that have great aftermarket support. Went through some troubled times in the late 90s, but rebounded with avengence. The VQ35 powers many of their cars and is a great engine.

Sentra- Only model that matters is the SE-R or SE-R Spec V. Driven one and it is a fun car to drive, engine makes it seem like it has more power than it really does. The SE-R Spec V is one of the best cars in it's class, and has a growing and growing aftermarket support.

Altima- The best car on your list, especially if you are talking V6. 250HP and 249TQ speaks for it's self. A family car that can give V8 Mustang GTs a scare and put the beat down on V8 Thunderbirds. Handling is ok (Sentra SE-R handles better) but it's a 4 door family car remember, but still it's handling and braking are respectable. Good and growing aftermarket support.

Maxima- More powerful than the Altima, but also heavier than the Altima, so it's about as fast as the Altima. More room in the Maxima, and to me, the Maxima seems a bit more sportier. To me the Altima seems like a performance car geared to be more of a family car. While the Maxima is a family car geared to more of performance car.

I never liked the Sentra SE-R Spec V when I was doing test drives, I liked the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart and Mazda 3 better. Still, the Spec V is pretty much the fastest car you can get for $18,000.

From your list, I'd have an Altima or a Tiburon. Basically the Maxima is too big and the Sentra too old (and the droopy rear-end looks disgusting). The Accent is cost-cutting at it's worst, just forget about it.

if you're looking into brand new than i agree the maxima is too heavy, and would say get the altima. but there was recently an altima vs maxima thread in which i explained why i feel it would be better to go with the previous generation of maxima. do a search if you want to see it.

I too would have to agree with member 3000ways. But why the Accent? Wouldn't an Elantra GT be better?
