2001 Jimmy clunk/rattle in front end

Have this sound coming from the front end when driving over rough roads. Took it in and the front end place replaced the ball joints and gave it a front end alignment. Replaced rotors and brake too (there was a squeek while driving down the road as well). $700 later I still have the clunk/rattle coming from the front end. Front end guy says he thinks the sound is coming from under the dash. I'm thinking its a bad bushing or something. Anyone heard of this elusive noise? And what did it take to fix it?

We're the hub bearings checked?

Thanks for your reply. I will ask the front end guy about hub bearings.

I have the same problem with my Jimmy. I thought it was coming from the passenger side door. Like the power window motor is loose.

I still have the clunk sound but I also had a vibration coming from the front end and YES this was a bad wheel bearing. Got it replaced and it is running smoothly. The dealer could not find the source of the clunking noise. In fact he said he never heard it. (I don't think he went over bumbs fast enough). So sorry, the clunking noise is still a mystery!

have you had your trans rebuilt?

If by "trans" you mean transmission, NO. And if I have to do that to a 2001 (56K miles), I will dump the P.O.S!.....Don't scare me like that! ; )
