That's too funny- they didn't even bother to paint it!

http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/24275carrera_gt/top.jpg

Strange that they'd be so anxious to it show off that they wouldn't delay a couple of days so allow someone to build it for real before releasing pics.

The pics look like a test shot - unpainted and some details missing. The model looks promising, though. I'd like to see a detail pic of the rear deck and engine cover. I hope they make the intake manifold covers on the rear deck P/E mesh.

look terrible.. well as said, it's unpaited and low details... Look like Tamiya have a newbee in there compagnie. They took the exact same seat as Porsche GT3.

Dont know, They really should wait before posting picture cos now it look like a Testor quality kit.. very desapointed

I don't agree with you, Vric! That's really teasing!
The seats are surely not GT3 ones, as the GT3 ones are much wider... The detail is still poor, but for example, the pic showing the rear suspension is very promising...

http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/24275carrera_gt/pic4.jpg
It gives, in some way, the same impression than when you've just cut out parts from the tree and test fitted them to have an overall preview... (I always do that! :D )

Unfortunately, I'm afraid the engine covers won't be PE... It would have been great, but hard to put in shape... It will surely be something like F50 and Enzo rear grid: a clear plastic part. :(

I wish Fujimi did the same with their forthcoming Murcielago: it really keeps desire alive! (well, I know I don't even need that... :D )

thats not the final product but only a progress version. as you can see, the body is missing decals, engine isnt painted, etc. WIP

and as labandabonnot stated, the seats arent the one from the GT3 (im having them on my benchwork right now, they arent the same)

Well look that engine and look the Enzo Engine.. The Carrera need a Detail set badly.. Interior look really good.

Anyway, I'm sure I will buy it anyway.. Tamiya is making only 2 kits by year so...

Personally Vric I don't know what you're getting so worked up about. I know, and so should you, that this is clearly a work in progress. I was more worried when I saw the mock-up picture at HLJ. However, having now seen this version I know I'll be buying this.

If you have any doubt that that this won't be as good as the Enzo then you've forgotten that this is TAMIYA we're dealing with. I expect nothing short of perfection and I know I won't be disappointed.

You're really determined to bash this kit, aren't you? I'm sorry you're so disappointed. But for engine detail, go find a pic of the Carrera GT with the engine lid raised, and compare it to the same on an Enzo. Now, compare the engine revealed by liftin the bonnet on ANY Porsche, versus ANY Ferrari. Notice something? How about the fact that Porsche as a matter of course doesn't tend to bother to display their engines in the way that Ferrari does. Lifting the lid on a Porsche will allow you to check the oil, see if the fan belt is broken, and sometimes (but usually not) reach the oil filter. So, if Porsche builds their cars this way, is it Tamiya's fault that they copy this accurately?

So- will it be as complicated as the Enzo? Probably not- but that depends here more on the complexity of the actual car than anything else. Will it be as detailed as the Enzo? I would certainly expect so, but these teaser shots are no way to tell one way or another.

Yes, rest assured that Studio 27 has already been given an advanced production copy of the kit, and their PE set will be on the way. It will almost definately contain a mesh cover for the bonnet. It will also likely contain an assortment of useless parts, like slotted brake disk covers and extra radiator grilles.

As for two kits a year, Tamiya's investment and tooling expenses are monsterous compared to Revell or Fujimi. It isn't possible to put out kits of this quality faster. I for one would rather buy two really good new kits a year than a dozen mediocre ones- I can't ever imagine a day I'll run out of stuff to build.

Completely agreed. After looking at shockingly simplified engine details of the tamiya kit, I checked some reference photos myself.
What I learned? Well, the Carrera GT is a German work of art. The engine of the Carrera GT is polar opposite of the disorganized Ferrari one. (Have you seen the Enzo in person? Even the fit of the panels reminded me of Yugo, and Yugo doesn't cost $700,000.)
Careful carbon fiber decal job and minor detailing will make the Carrera GT kit a real jewel, I bet.

I would certainly disagree with two perfect kits a year over a half dozen normal Tamiya quality ones. There are a lot of cars that aren't supercar enough for this sort of treatment, but I certainly want in a higher quality kit than Aoshima and Fujimi typically put out. In fact, I don't think I'll buy this kit. Sure it, like the Enzo, is a dream car, but neither it nor the Enzo really capture my imagination like some of the more normal cars we see every day and we see race every weekend. I even regret buying me Enzo kit... it'll never get built. It's a great car, a great kit, but when I daydream about building a model, it isn't about that thing. Anyone want it....?

I think judging from the comparsion pic I made all the detail of the engine in the real car ist replicated in the Tamiya model. Add a little paint and you have a fully detailed model.
Don´t blame Tamiya for Porsche making engine departments that look very clean.

One more, here you can clearly see that the seats are perfect mach, only thing missing is front turn light that is maybe decal (that sucks).

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/1232052004_0319Velesajam0001-med.jpg

And to compare that engine to Murcielago here is one of that engine bay, it is not very impresive also.

You can see how it looks without paint at the beggining of this thread, if there are no mold lines, you could only use clear coat just to give shine, but do you realy want to do that?

I dont know about you, but I dont understand any of that translation. Thanks for trying.

From the looks of the pics, I'll be glad when mine shows up at my door. Looks like the engine cover is a clear molded part, which looks okay in these pics. I still like the concept car much better than this production version - it has a lower 'roof' line. Hopefully, they'll add additional detail, like the side marker lights as a molded part and not use a decal.

Anxiously waiting for my kit!

Anyone know if any other detail set is on the work ?

Vric, you don't necessarily have to buy the whole set, which is indeed expensive. You can by the Enzo detail set individually, like decal, CD-R and PE parts.
At first, I only bought the reference CD-R, because I thought it was the only thing I needed. Then, I went back to the same store for the PE set, it was sold out. Hope they get another batch soon.
