Simply put:

Burnt fluid is black and metallic. Burnt means friction elements are, or have been slipping.

Brown/yellowish is varnished, overheated and never changed, end of service life fluid.

If it is brown? Then have a "pan drop service with a flush".

Not a backflush, powerflush, superflush or whatever they call em.

Rex, why the pan drop instead of the power flush? Which is better? You recommendng the pan removal because of the probable varnish build-up.

Thanks.

I use the pan drop to change the filter. That way you get a new filter to keep a high volume of fluid flow with in the tranny. And you can inspect the pan to see how things look. Also, you could have the guys cut open the filter to really see whats up.

If you are going to keep the car Flush it. You can do it yourself by pulling the lines off of the factory cooler and putting on in a drain bucket and one pulling fluid out of a bucket. Run it until it runs clean and then drop the pan and change the filter. Then fill it back up
