Today on my way to work I pulled up next to a Eagle Talon w/ Turbo. Had 18's, exhaust, and was :apuke: not lowered.
The guy had a girl with him, but the windows were tinted so I could not see to much detail. Anyhow.....

The light turned green and I jumped right off hitting the gas because I thought he was going to smoke my a$$.... I did get off about 1/2 a car length to start, but he could never catch up :confused: As he got into high rpm's I could here his engine (don't recall hearing the turbo), but I heard the blow-off when he shifted into 2nd. He was terrible shifting and he never caught up. I got up to 80mph before I let go (he had quit by then 8 or so cars back). I got caught at the next light and we're side by side again. No reving or anything, but when the light went green he got on it. >>>I could tell because his 4" front fender gaps jumped to 7-8" :D -- I made sure to let him go first to see if he wanted to race. As soon as I saw him go, I floored it. By the time he shifted into 2nd it was even. After the 10 minutes it took him to get into 2nd I was gone......
I don't know if he was playing or what (didn't sound like it the way the RPM's were getting up on his ride), but there is NO way in hell my LX (auto) should beat a turbo Talon :confused:

What the hell happened? I'm thinking the guy was a moron who maybe just got the car and not pressing the pedal down all the way :confused:

I think you might be right. I've seen a few civics get their asses handed to them by turbo eclipses and talons. As a matter of fact, I have to hand my cousin his ass in his 98 ex next weekend. LOL, j/k.

I bet he had no clue what he was doing. When I first got my car I didn't know, and I'd shift at like 4000rpm. That must've been pretty embarassing for him though if he got beat by Civic and he had a Talon turbo in front of his girlfriend.

Will the blow off valve sound any time you shift? ....or just at higher rpm's?

The Blow off valve will open any time the turbo is spooled and you let go of the gas.

And as for the embarrasing part, frankly I've never met a girl who cares if thier bf got beat by so and so. Most girlfriends I see in cars don't like being in a car while they're bf is racing someone anyways.

well, most girls wouldn't be embarassed probably, but I think I would be embarassed if that happened to me. But I don't speak for every guy out there I guess.

yea, girls just like the acceleration and speed....if you win, its a bonus...i doubt they'll hate you if you lose...

Mine does evey time I shift even when I am not racing. As for your beating him. Since you re stock he should have handed it to you. But the car isn't everything. You were by far the better driver. And that is what counts here. That fool should be driving a Geo metro. :rolleyes:

my blow off valve doesn't altho its a recurculating valve and you only hear it go phst (very high pitch) when i hit the redline...:-D

o yea i just remembered there some stupid shitty red or yellow i can't remember cuz i haven't seen the POS in awhile Talon ... it sounded terrible you could tell he was trying i'd say it was pretty slow the engine sounded like it was going to rip itself apart so i'd say the Talon you raced was A) driven by someone with no skill in a Manual (STICK for some people) and B) It was probably a POS or maybe its just A) like they say you have to do the work not the car! or is it No matter how fast your car is you still need to be able to drive it or maybe its Your car is more the obstacle not the road or could it be .... You need huge balls to drive a car fast no i like the other one. :D

The driver of the car makes the biggest difference in any race. The car has the potential to be a lot faster then yours in the right hands. Sounds like this guy decided to shift at 3K rpms. It sounds like a kill to me.

yeah but no matter if dale himself came back, if he was rolling in a DX, ill bet my 10 yr old brother could beat him in a vette. The car does have something to do with it lol

He probably didn't know how to drive. Or he was just messin with you. ORRRRRRRR......... maybe his car is sooooo fast that when HE is driving regulurly in his car, it is as fast as when you are truly racing. :D

He was racing just not putting it to the floor is what I'm guessing now. Those fenfer gaps wouldn't of jumped 5 more inches driving regular :D

Maybe the guys clutch was burnt to toast and although he wanted to spank your ass he couldnt get it into gear without the thing slipping like crazy... or maybe his gears were shot.... a stock turbo talon in decent shape wouldnt even have to try to mop the floor with an almost stock civic, and if you heard a blowoff valve... then you would have been seeing some serious tail lights real quick... just a thought

sorry if the above post came off kind of ashole'ish.. i was in a rush and didnt get to word it as eloquently as i normally would have... i just noticed a lot of people blaming the guy for being a bad driver when it could have been something more technical. congrats on your win anyway :D

i have just one question, how do u know it's a turbo, did u see it?, my guess is this fool dressed his car up to look like one and put in one of those n/a blow off valves, cuz then i'd believe that you beat him, cuz wheni had my accord(god rest her soul), i spanked those non turbo talons and eclipses left and right, i just took them, and walked on them, cuz ur civic lx, isn't that fast, no offense, but i doubt it was turbo, unless, he either really sucks as a driver, or has a very shitty car with clutch/tranny problems

yeah, i got hit pulling into a gas station, my accord is bein scrapped, i miss her, and all the fun day's id tear up the domestics, sniff sniff, but now i have a lude, and i'm still rippin it up to this day:)

yah, I drove one in a est drive, the TSI AWD, he had o be messing, these cars haul!

theyre not that fast, sure they are compared to my civic, but still not fast cars

what are youi taloiking about, not fast, go out and get a TSI AWD(95-98)
keep it stock, now go buy whatever you want from hoinda, besides NSX and ITR and S2K, but ludes, GSR, civic SI, all those, and then you can get the new lancer, subaru impreza rs, mazda MX6, and al these and the talon will be very close to the top if not #1. Ive been in them all being driven by the same person, with only 2 people.

anyways. all cars have the potential to be fast

yet not all cars are quick

well yeah, I mean al cars can eventually be quick, or fast. but taken in stock form, they are very quick compard to modst stock cars you cabn buy, especially in their price range.
