My car is 01 ford taurus ses. Today I found a problem. When you change the shift lever from P to R or from N to R, you can hear a big sound like "tong" in the car. But when you open the hood, you hear it oustside . You hardly find any difference with other cars. Anyone Know these. Please give me a help.

Thanks a lot!

I don't fully understand just what it is you're trying to get across. What I'm thinking is that your shift from P to R or from N to R is louder than you think it should be, correct? If so, how is the engine idling, normally or sounding a bit fast? If it is revved up higher than it should be it will go into gear with a noisy jerk. If you're having a problem other than this, repost and proof read before you let loose of it.
