97 escort radio removal

Along with the radio comes the comfort control system and i have the dash kit to put in for the cd player but i cant figure out how to disconnect the temp control cable so that i can pull the unit out. please help.

I think that you might actually have to go back in from behind and remove the cable. I attempted to do this once in my Dad's '97 but couldn't figure out why the unit would only come so many inches out of the dash, but not all the way. I'll post back with some instructions here soon on how to get it out...I've got a Hayne's manual around here somewhere...

The temp control cable connects on the drivers side. Go down to where your feet are, and look to the right, its a round plastic thing, pull that off. Now your good to go.

Is there any trick to pulling this the cable off? I'm afraid I'll break something.
