I'm in the process of changing disc brake pads on my 99 Taurus wagon. I'm having difficulty getting the left side piston to compress in far enought to install the new pads. I cracked open the relieve valve but the piston still will not move far enough using a C-clamp. Anyone have some suggestions on a technique that might help??

I have herd that one way is a 2x4 and a hammer, but if i was you I wouldent resort to that without seeking out a higher source, you may end up doing severe damage

Do not try to compress the caliper piston!!! The rear pistons turn in. They make a special tool for doing this, which is only about $7 or so. It can be done without but easier with the tool. Again, do not try to force the piston straight in via hammer, press, or what have you.!!!!
