I have 91 Dodge Caravan with 107,000 miles already. Recently, I am experiencing a tremendous play on the steering wheel. I have taken it to local Kramer Tire (in Virginia Beach, VA) for front end alignment. They didn't perform this alignment since I have a possible bad rack and pinion. It possibly needs a bushing or total replacement. They wanted too much for this repair (approx. $700). I like to do it myself but I have not tackled this task before. I do have Haynes Repair Manual for my caravan but no info concerning rack and pinion inspection and removal. Can anyone help me or direct me to get info on how to do this. I'm desperate and badly in need of help. Thanks in advance.
