Hi all,
Can anyone tell me what the 1994 U13 Bluebird (LX) engine is or how I find out?
I have looked on the plate and can find the KA24 2389(cc) but can not find anything after the KA24. I'm pretty sure I've cooked the engine, oil was fine but I'd not checked the water for about a month. Temp guage is evidently not working properly as it only goes to half-way, even when the thing was boiling!!
Any help is greatly appreciated
thanks
Peter

Have now found out that the engine is a KA24 DE, this is apparently the same as american 240sx and altima. I had a look at it yesterday and all the plugs are fine except number 4, I couldn't get at it as the cap had melted :angryfire
Anyway now I'm at the stage of looking at some options, not sure if I'll have to exchange the engine or maybe a rebiuld, the dead one has done about 220ks so might look at a second hand engine. I've heard a bit about the 2L turbo from the Pulsar GTi R. Anyone done that or got one, how much am I likely to pay?
thanks
Peter

Seems to me the best option would be an engine from the local wreckers, a KA 24 - mainly because it'll fit. Rebuilding cooked engines really isn't for the faint hearted, so if you can find one that hasn't been fried, you'll be fine.
Seems that the SSS Atessa is slated for grey import here soon, if the 15 year rule stays as is, that is. Might be worth the the wait - they're different in that it won't be feasible to change your aus Bluebird to a SR 20DET powered device without a fair bit of mucking about. It can be done, of course - but cost effectively? - I doubt it.
