Truck won't start, but POP Starting worked WHY???MMLM 06-24-2004, 08:24 PM I wrote before about my 89 Toyota 4X4 that will not start. Not the battery (brand new) and it only happens when it is hot out. Here is my new question................ I stopped on a hill and the truck would not start. As usual, I turned it over and nothing but a faint click noise.........So, I pop started it. What does that mean to my problem with the truck? Does that mean it is the starter? Or a connection to the starter................because it does start when the truck is not hot?? Any thoughts????????? Jeremy-WI 06-28-2004, 07:24 PM I would check out the connections at the battery and the starter. Be sure to check the ground wire at both ends of the bigger cable from the battery, if you don't find anything, replace starter, its the only major thing I've had to replace on my 91 with 22RE TuckerR1980 07-01-2004, 04:04 PM If the contacts on the exterior of the starter look good than it is most likely the interior contacts my '87 and '88 both had to be done. They are made of copper so they're prone to wear. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
