To anyone who would be so kind as to help: While changing the transmission fluid in my 94 Caravan (3.3 liter) with overdrive I removed the differential cover but found no magnet. My Chilton's manual says there is a magnet. Should I assume it was lost and can I get a new one or do they not all have magnets? How important is it that I have one? Where do I go to get one? The pan covering the filter had one, but not the differential cover. Thanks for the help.

There is no magnet within the diff housing...

Thank you very much for the help! I was paranoid that it came off when I removed the cover and that it was stuck in some damaging place. I can now rest tonight!
