I am set to finish the transaction on a '98 Legacy L Wagon. It is eBay # 2482492817 which I could purchase for $1725 plus shipping (it's in the East and I'm in the West).

It appears to be an outrageously good deal.

1) Is the 2.2L engine an "interference engine"? Should I worry that he is selling cheap because the timing belt broke and the vales are bent?

2) What common problems should I have checked?

I dont think the 2.2 is a interference type eninge. Its pretty much bullet proof in fact! Try over at www.nasioc.com they have more lively legacy forums
