Car and Driver 0-60 mph 5.4

Road and Track 5.4

Both on the 2.0 and 2.2 liter engines, they run same times.
Car and Driver just posted a 14.0 for the 04 s2000 in the comparo against the Elise.

But you wont be able to pull those times if your not a damn good driver. Those times are gotten from dumping or feathering the clutch in the 7,000-7500 rpm range, and perfectly shifting at 8900 rpms.

A normal driver will pull 6.0 - 6.5 seconds 0-60 mph times. Street start 5-60mph is 7.0 flat for an s2000.

Lets say, on a Mustang Mach 1, or 350z, 5.4 times are advertised, but they CAN be obtained by almost any driver since the driving techniques in order to achieve them are minimal.

what about wrx's? they say those are 5.4, is that something most drivers could do?

Yes. The AWD system makes launches pretty easy to nail, and it wont be as hard to perfect as with an s2000.

And WRXs are rated around 5.8 - 5.9

new mag ads say 5.4 for the 2005

not to piss people off on honda boards, but i find it unbelievable how fast wrx's are. i never really knew that until a few months ago, and sure as hell wouldn't have had a honda if i knew what i know now. well i'd have an s2000 if i had the cash for it, and it is badass, but a wrx costs significantly less and achieves comparable times, despite being a four door sedan versus a two seat roadster.

I dont like the styling though. But thats just an opinion.

Honda s2000 looks very sweet, and it indeed is very sweet in every aspect: interior, exterior, handling, performance.

I prefer the S2000's styling. But I must admit, the WRX's mechnics are hard to beat.

agreed, i LOVE s2k's. i think they're one of the finest cars on the road today. i actually got my accord because i was in love w/ the appearance of fifth gens. unfortunately, well for me anyways, once i got into this stuff i realized that my interests lie more with performance than with looks. i wish i could trade all my body work for engine work.

you cant compare a 4 door turbocharged family sedan to a high reving 2 seat roadster.....
they are 2 very different machines built with very different uses in mind
that's likt saying i prefer a keyboard over a mouse because i can type on it

no, it's not like that at all. that's comparing apples to oranges, i'm just trying to say that in terms of performance, they're pretty similar, yet one costs more, and is a roadster, but still only makes the same speed as a family sedan

and ya you can compare them. comparing something ridiculous like apples to oranges or keyboards to mice is stupid, but comparing two cars is fine. just because they're not almost identical doesn't mean you cannot see benefits of one over the other. and my next car will likely be one of the two, so i am, in fact, comparing them.

stop taking the 0-60 time, its ONLY because of the launch , without it, it will be mid to high 6s for 0-60, and will get pulled by an s2k.....not to mention the s2k would wipe its ass with the wrx around a track...the handling in the wrx even with the AWD isnt that great.....an s2k is also alot more refined. Sure you can launch alot in a WRX to win vs s2k, but you'll end up going through trannys faster than you go through a bag of skittles....

actually WRX's arent that easy to launch....probably easier than a s2k but still....its difficult...and takes a lot to get used to....try it go to a subie dealer and test drive it and try to launch it...youll be surprised at how difficult it is...im not saying the s2k is any easier cuz im sure its tricky too

I know EVOs and STis/WRXs aren't as easy to launch as people make it sound. I was just trying to say, that with a WRX you NEED to launch it to have it be a close race with an s2k.
