I have a 1994 Metro 4-banger sedan. I get a strong gas smell throughout the car and the tank builds up pressure (especially on warmer days). I often have to remove the gas cap to alleviate this. Would a new gas cap fix the problem or is it further along in the system?

Sounds like your charcoal filter, or the pressure solenoid attached to it is failing. Bypass the charcoal filter vacuum line and hook the tank's vacuum line directly into the solenoid and see if the pressure in the tank drops.

Thanks.. Been working so much lately, haven't had time to reply or look at the problem again.
