A/C Control Panel Went Blank (Blacked out)jimss454 06-19-2004, 01:19 PM 92 Burb 1500 2wd 5.7L - Girlfriend's truck, warm weather, unit was on Vent setting. She hit the blue A/C button, the compressor kicked in, then a few seconds later the entire Heater & A/C Control panel display went black (it's the digital-type control with flourescent display panel). Fan shut off at same time. I checked all fuses under dash, none were blown. Removed dash cover & pulled the control module out. Located '93 module with same P/N at a salvage yard for $45, plugged it in, no luck. Still blacked-out, no sign of life. Are there any other fuses, relays, fusible links in the heating & A/C system, other than at the under-dash main fuse box? It's acting like there is no power getting to that control panel/module. Could it be the ignition (key) switch? Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. -Dan. michelq 06-20-2004, 08:33 AM 92 Burb 1500 2wd 5.7L - Girlfriend's truck, warm weather, unit was on Vent setting. Pulled glove box, and located connector (this model has a 6-pin connector with 5 wires). Sure enough, the red wires in & out of connector pair were blackened for about 1/2 inch in both directions. clipped red wires & reconnected them directly with quick-connects, bypassing the connectors. Problem solved! Re-installed original control panel, which works fine. Now, if I can get the salvage yard to accept a return of the panel I bought from them Friday... I sure appreciate the tip, thank you so much. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
