Listed capacity of AC refrigerant in 88 camrykohokoho 06-19-2004, 10:55 AM I recently retrofitted the AC refrigerant in my 88 camry from R-12 to 134a. I looked in the owner's manual for the listed amount, but no luck. Not knowing the listed amount, I didn't wanna overcharge it..so I only charged it with one can (the kit came with two 15- Oz cans from EZ-Chill)of 134a. But now the ac/econ light has started blinking when on and it doesn't blow as cold air. Thinking of charging it with the remaining can.. But I would really like to know the listed capacity for the refrigerant (the can says charge with 85% of listed capacity). Does anyone know where I can find this info for an 88 camry? I looked under the hood too, nothing there.. Thanks. Brian R. 06-19-2004, 11:03 AM Charge it until the view window shows no bubbles when the air conditioning is running at max. kohokoho 06-19-2004, 11:20 AM Brian, what do you mean by view windows? Sorry, I am a newbie.. Brian R. 06-19-2004, 01:55 PM There is a view window (sight glass) on the top of the receiver/dryer (cylindrical object with tubing attached near the radiator). Just follow the tubing from the compressor. calvic 06-21-2004, 02:32 PM If you are evacuated, it holds 1.75 lbs refrigerant and 4 oz. of compressor lube. JJ calvic 06-21-2004, 02:34 PM Sorry, thats how much 134a it holds! jj vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
