i just wanna know one more thing about my ecu i have a b16a in a 95 civic ex coupe the ecu i have is supposedly for a dohc b16a motor but i am having doubts ... the code on the ecu is 37820-p28-a52... the guy tells me that the "a" in the a52 means it is for a odb1 b16a motor and a "b"52 is for the sohc does any one know of a web site that has all the info or does any one know themselves... thanks

All Honda ECUs have a part number which is located on the side of the ECU and inside the ECU on the connector. e.g. 37820-P72-A01

The part number consists of three components:

-Honda's part number for ECU, which is always
37820
-Three characters (which are loosely related to
the model of car/engine). e.g P72
-Three characters (which are the revision of the
ECU) e.g. A01

i need a p30 from the 92-95 odb1 delsol DOHC vtec si/eg sir for my b16a then right? instead of the p28 i have

Beyond Imagination
06-18-2004, 10:55 AM
yes because the p28 is a sohc vtec and the p30 is a dohc vtec. maybe that's the problem why your car isn't running like it should.

i have a question, ive been doing some research, and with the budget i have, it seems that the 1.6L DOHC NONE VTEC!!!!! is the best choice, i found out that my 91 hb is easy to do that swap in it, but if i want to go with b16, or b18, i gotta get special mounts, and there is also some wiring and welding, cutting ect that i have to do, anyways.... what is ur opinion on this?

HondaOz

i meant the ZC

race me then...yea didnt think so

zc's are old, I hear horror stories of them snappin timing belt's like it was the thing to do. even rebuilt zc's can't hang and still are slow.

save some extra money and get somtehing worth swapping.

so a zc is old but you are running a b18a thats old to. i have had 2 dohc zc motors and i have never broken a timing belt. so you have beat a built zc sohc are dohc? i know you cant beat me with times like that. you can get me of the line but on the top end you will lose. my car is tuned by one of the top tuners here in the 626 area. and for me racing you lets go i will even give you a car. just dont shit in your pants when you hear my cams.

civicHBsi91
07-04-2004, 05:55 PM
lol your cams aint gonna help you, I ran that time on some shitty ass tires.

by the time I yank you off the line you wont be able to catch up.

my b18 is obd2 ;)

I have MURDERED a DOHC zc, rebuilt, turbo, and stock, and no i was never spraying on either. thers no need to

blkef
07-04-2004, 06:06 PM
so your b18 is obd2? so what ecu and manifold are you running because in your sig it says you have a b18a 90-93 so what is your time when you dont have shitty tires and what mods have you did to the ls to make it beat a built are turbo zc

civicHBsi91
07-04-2004, 06:10 PM
obd0 ecu and dizzy on a obd2 motor, basically a b18a :)

ebay intake, thermal cat back. 14.7's at 92mph i have trapped higher but had a shittier launch it would go 14.6's on bald shitty tires that came from the factory on gsr rim's. with drag radials i could go an easy 14.4 I also have a broken motor mount :)

please say your car can do that with the same amount of mods and not gutted to hell, oh and i weight a good 240-250 pounds

no my car is not gutted like your car is it has no back seat it also has fal side windows and a fiberglass zc hood. mods are stock block, genie header, headwork, custom web cams,Ebay intake,2.25 es exhaust, jun cam gears, lots of tuning and a lot of other things. but when i first got the motor it ran a 15 and 15.4 in irwindale and with that i was beating the new si's 99 and up with just i/h/e a chiped ecu and cam gears. and with dyno tuning i was on the rearpanals of modded gsr's. if i would have run my 555r tires with i/e/h ecu, gears and tuning i would be running the same times as you high 14's. i cant what to see what times pull off with the new set up.

civicHBsi91
07-04-2004, 11:41 PM
I pulled that time a good 2 months ago. and with 555r's I would see low 14's

your car with your zc with alot of work done couldent see me in my car with a ls with intake and exhuast.

si's and gsr's are no contest unless they are turbo supercharged or spray or are fully built. I havent come across one with bolt on's that hasent fell back in a race.

when i ran the 15 i was on street tires and the motor only had i/h/e,gears and tuning and that was it. the set up i have now will put in the high 13's on dot tires and mid to low 14's on street tires. and for the zc not seeing your ls thats funny because the zc has way more top end then the ls. how much hp did you get with your i/e and zex setup? the only way you would beat me is if you had a b16 trans.

They used SOHC ZC's for a while in Integras all the way to 99 (120hp). And all a ZC is really is a D series motor with a different name, and slightly different production.

And if you think your LS with intake and exhaust is going to take a boosted ZC, you're dreaming a big dream.

i just cant believe that so many people would buy hondas 2 streetrace..... i like em but thats just being meatheaded... i cant imagine the terrible torq steer these things get....

Ricochet

We buy Hondas because they are cheap grocery getters, then we are told about all these great parts for them, so we add our fart cans and kinda fall into the racing crowd, then we all end up wanting them to be faster. Then, once we make our little Hondas faster, we decide it still sucks because it's just a Honda and is still only fwd, so we want bigger, faster rwd cars. That's me anyways, but I'm sure some others feel me.

185hp plus whatever an intake and exhaust adds, so around 195-200hp at the crank. It's quick from a roll being a 2300lb car, but I have a ton of friends with Z28's, Z06's, Trans Am's, RX7's, etc.. so I definitly know where the real shit is, and the real shit doesn't wear an H badge.
