Well as Rene calls it, its "valve clacking" ... engine makes an annoying noise while running, its not a KNOCK, but its starting to make me mad. What the hell can it be... simple fix? Remember I have to drive this fucker 1200+ miles home... anything I can take a look at????

Well, I assume you're talking about a Honda since this is the Honda forum. Honda uses mechanical lifters in their engines. What causes the noise is the distance between the cam and the follower is too great. This is known as lash. A valve adjustment is needed, until then your engine won't run as good as it can and make noise. I've driven cars with the same problem and never had any damage as a result.

I told you bro, we need to adjust them. As for damage, yeah if you leave them like that, you'll wear out the components quicker. But it's not a life or death situation.

You're right tho, we should wait for the valve adjustment. We can do both at the same time like soon. I can bring my cheap haynes manual and give it a wack whenever you want.
