I guess this kind of goes along with the redneck racing thread, anyway. There is this kid in my A/C and machine powertrains classes that just bought a new HEMI ram. Well he starts runnin his mouth to everyone about this new HEMI. Well being the nice person that I am, I offerd him a run agenst the Buick so he can accually showww us what the HEMI can do. He justs starts laughing and bad mouthing my car telling me that my car was made for luxery*SP and not speed. So he throws down the offer of 900 bucks to race because he is not going to take the risk/waste his fuel/and chew up his brand new tires for nothing. Well Im not much of a money racer, maybe 50 or a 100 bucks if I am feeling lucky (and cocky enough.) Also I bet what I can afford and I can't afford that kind of money. what do you guys think, Should I run him?

the hemi is a good engine but not in a truck you should be able to beat him unless he has some major mods.

LOL, That's just Murphy's law coming into play. Double check everything in your car, make sure you're running smooth, then check everything one more time. But is this guy really serious? Maybe you should take a look under HIS hood too, in case he snuck some Nitrous Foggers in there...a 200 hp shot would be an unwelcome surprise, although quite funny. :rolleyes:

Oh god, the "new HEMI" is so overated.. It's nowhere near what the old one was.. People make such a big deal over it but I don't see what's so special about it..

yes, i know that and probably everyone else on here does, but does he? it was more just cuz (hyppothetialy speking if you did) he might wonder why your trying to cover a $900 bet with a car that is worth way more money, he might think that your sure you wont lose then. where as if he thinks its worth $1200 its more cinsable that you would be willing to bet it. also when he loses to a $1200c car,(or so he thinks) it just makes it that much better.

but truly i would just bet some reasonable amount that is not so high it will be a big loss, if like you say something unexpected should happen.

on another forums this guy had his hemi on the dyno, 260 hp at the wheels! Those trannys suck the power from those motors.
