Hi everyone I saw somewhere that someone was saling a sedan m3 but what I knowtice was that it was an automatic. So my question would be is that possible? and if that is possible is it a likely chance that there is an automatic m3 coupe as well or is it only made for the sedan version. another question in mind is that did they ever made sport shifter for the e36 model?

I knew about the SMG gearbox but have never seen an M3 with a solid five-speed auto myself!

They actually do have auto coupes but I am not sure about the e36 model having a sport shifter!

There was a 5-spd automatic option for the E36 M3's. It had a sport mode, economy mode, and manual mode. The sport mode is not what you think - you could not manually shift like todays manu-matics, instead the trans shifted at a higher rpm. Not sure what the manual mode did. There were separate positions for gears 2,3, and 4 so I guess you could manually go to those gears.
I drove two 1995 M3's with the auto and was very disappointed. The car is a dog with this transmission. The 1998-99 M3's had the 3.2 liter engine with the torque coming in at a lower rpm (3800). This may be a lot better. The 2001 330ci auto I drove was great and that has a lower peak torque than the E36 M3's so maybe it's just that BMW hadn't gotten the auto trans stuff down yet back than.
