I've been thinking about getting into a new minivan (the old windstar is getting tired). Anyone have any advise, opinion or whatever concerning the Sedona? I haven't heard too much about them, but they seem to have nice styling and I'm beginning to see more and more of them on the road.

We just bought a 2004 Sedona EX, like everything so far, no problems. We only have 1000 miles on it. I think the price was about $16,500 with discounts and rebates....

I do not like the way the seats fold down. We have always had Chevy products that would let you flip the seats forwad and make more room. These seats do not do this as easily, or else I am doing it wrong...

Overall we are happy with the performance and features.

A point of Advice. Don't get a Kia. You may end up bringing it to the garage quite often.

pcdoctor why do you say that? I just bought a 04 Sedona and think it's great. Good price, great fit and finish, great options, good ride, and good looks. Or are you just trolling?

I have a 2004 Kia Sedona also and have not had any problems. It has about 5K miles on it. It rides surpisingly smooth. I got the premium package with leather seats, sunroof, dvd player, remote start with alarm, spoiler, etc. I paid $25K for it..maybe too much, but if I were to get these options in another van I am sure it would have cost $35K! I think you get a lot for your money. Plus they scored highest on all 5 of the gov't's crash tests. Safety is a major issue since I was injured in a car accident while driving a poorly rated car. good luck!

Yeah... I'm kinda leaning toward the Sedona... Right now, the local Kia Dealer has a special, buy a Sedona and get a Rio for free... some deal huh... I may have to check it out and take advantage of that!

What??? You get a Rio for free with a Sedona?? good lord! I didn't get that kind of deal! What is it a lease? That's not fair! :( Well good luck. I find my Sedona to be a really great car. It drives smoothly and I got a lot for the money.

I don't know the specifics yet... I just seen the ad in yesterday's (Sunday's) paper. I'm sure there is some catch... but it may be worth investigating. Probably no rebates or discounts.... but if you can get 2 cars for the price of one.... that's a good deal, I'd say....

I have a 2003 Sedona with 42k miles. No problems so far. I do my own maintenance. I use synthetic oil ( Amsoil or Mobil 1) every 10 k miles with a filter change every 5k.

4 other co-workers use Sedonas also (2004s) . I have not heard of any problems.

I love our KIA, and for the money compared to all others it cant be beat. My friend has the Dodge GC and it is problem after problem. Sure there have been minor issue like the seat belt sensor going out, and some emmisions chip, but it was all covered under warranty. The dealship was extremely apologetic and speedy in the work. We currently have 22000 on our van and it rocks for a minivan. My wife almost had a stroke when I brought this thing home. She went from a Grand Cherokee loaded to a Kia MV. She says she wouldnt trade it for anything now.

GET IT BROTHER. You wont be unhappy.

I have a 2003 Sedona LX and I'm not too happy with it. The engine hasn't had any problems yet, but I've had to replace the front brake rotors twice. I later found out that the problem was with the rear brakes. They weren't adjusted correctly. My new rotors are slightly warped again but they cost $90 a piece. They aren't covered by the warranty after 24,000 miles.

I had to replace the alternator. The battery needs replacement. If I leave even one dome light on for an hour, I need a jump start. I have had the front cup holder replaced 3 times. The cd radio has been replaced and I'm on my 3rd stet of tires in 64,500 miles.

Right now I can't figure out what is causing my steering wheel to shake at 70 mph. I have a brand new set of tires and had a front end alignment done. It doesn't shake all the time but it does most of the time. It's not a violent shaking, just enough to make the van feel cheap.

There are a few more problems that I've had in the past. I just can't remember them all now.

Sorry, I can't recomend that you buy the Kia Sedona unless you don't mind putting up with these problems.

OMGoodness, I'm having the same shaking at 70mph and I'm getting sputtering, not sure if it's fuel related/ transmission related or what? It doesn't rev high in the RPM's, that is all normal, just feels like I'm running out of gas occasionally...I'm dealing with that now...They did a trans flush and I'm waiting to hear what they are going to say. The only reason why I bought a Kia was because of it's warranty and now I'm getting the run around as to whether it'll be covered.... :banghead:

I have heard of a problem with the throttle control.. it is controlled electrically, not by a cable,, received a recall notice on it.. I have had a few times when the van was cold that I gave it gas but no power, then all of the sudden it goes. ?? not good when pulling into traffic.. might want to check about that recall.. just a thought.. good luck

nope couldn't be that, I had that cable replaced under recall, unless the adjustments are off on it, but it's only been happeneing for this last week, the cable was done at the beginning of the summer.

Just got my van back, the flush doesn't seem to have changed much, the gentle jerking for no apparent reason, here and there, is still happening, the Dealer shop said to give the flush 200 miles to "go to work" before I take it back unless things get extremely bad.

Still frustrated.... :disappoin
