knocking in the rear suspension?boosted k20 06-14-2004, 11:08 AM whats up. well when i lowered my car about 3 months ago, i put on a set of neuspeed race springs and had them on the stock struts. as soon as i took the car for a spin and went over any small bump, i would here like a knocking noise like something is loose in the rear or somethings hitting. the noise only came from the right rear strut. i figured that the strut was just blown, but then i recently replace the stock struts with bilstein struts and the noise was still there. i have no clue what it is. i cant really see anything hitting the shocks while it's traveling up and down. I was thinking that it could be the sway bar on the rear of my car (im not sure if it's called a sway bar, but it's the metal bar that conects the the two Lower Control Arms) maybe the bushing is no good. i'll give it a check but if u guys have experienced this problem or know how to fix it, hit me up with a reply. thanks SilverY2KCivic 06-17-2004, 02:19 AM I know that in my Civic, esp. when my sub is in the trunk, part of the floorboard under the carpeting in the truck will rattle around when I go down a bumpy road, or fast over a bump or dip. If you have a floorboard in the trunk area over where the spare tire is, see if that could be what's making the noise. Also keep in mind the stiffer springs you have on your car, the more rattles you'll hear from your car interior stuff as it can rattle loose from the stiffness. boosted k20 06-17-2004, 10:26 AM thanks alot man. i didnt even think about that. im gonna remove the floor board today and see if that annoying noise comes back. thanks again bro SilverY2KCivic 06-17-2004, 08:48 PM thanks alot man. i didnt even think about that. im gonna remove the floor board today and see if that annoying noise comes back. thanks again bro No problem. Sometimes it's just the stuff we never think to think of as the cause. Let us know what you find out about it, or if that was the culprate. boosted k20 06-17-2004, 10:32 PM oh i found the problem. the spare tire was not screwed/bolted on all the way, so everytime i hit a bump, the tire would move and knock around in the trunk. im so stupid, why didnt i think about checking inside the trunk to see if things were moving around. thanks again silverY2kcivic. SilverY2KCivic 06-17-2004, 11:58 PM No prob, glad you got it figured out. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
