okay i put on the original tubing to make my ram air a cai today, and also changed the air filter. after doing this, it was way louder than before. what could that be attributed to? and also, i didn't feel like dealing w/ the recharge kit for my current (k&n) air filter, so i just got one of those generic 24.99 ones at auto zone. it definitely has more surface area, but do you guys think that recharging my k&n would have been better than the one i got?

Possibly, k&n costs so much do to the good filtration it provides. Generic are generic for a reason. You may get more air in, but you may also get alot more sh!t in too. Overall, I guess it is a matter or opinion. I know plenty of cars, my first included, that ran with generic filters and didn't seem to suffer.
