Are we talking about a 4.6 engine or a 5.0?

The engine will fit, the bays are the same. Need new mounts, tranny, rearend(?).

we're talking 5.0, how much are new mounts and how hard would it be for me to do?

You'll also have to change the computer and virtually the entire wiring harness. It's actually pretty complicated, but can be done by the average shade-tree mech.

Don't bother hunting for a Cobra engine, the shortblock is the same as a GT , it just has GT-40 heads, a Cobra intake, and a crappy cam. Save the cash for AFR's and a good intake/cam combo...

Couldn't have said it better myself. If I were you I would either get a 5.0 short block, and put a mild cam like a Trick Flow Stage I, with some AFR 165, or Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads, or actually rebuild a GT engine. That should be good for about 300+ horsepower. Just for kicks, another cam I like is this one, http://www.iskycams.com/timingchart.php?product_number=371265/275
It's an Isky split duration cam. I think that would do nicely for a daily driven car, but that's just my opinion.

New motor mounts would probably be about $130. For the computer, accessory brackets and such you might want to look through a junkyard, you could probably find it there for a lot less. Cobra01TT also mentioned you might need a new rear end, I'm not too sure, but the V6 I BELIEVE it has the 7.5 rear end, a friend of mine actually had about 650 horsepower with the 7.5 rear end from an 89 4 cyl. :screwy: You can drive around with it for awhile, but you probably won't have great traction.
