99 GC Front Axle Leak??Myrtle Beach 06-11-2004, 10:31 AM I was under my jeep the other day and noticed a couple drops of red fluid (felt thicker than tranny fluid, i am asuming gear oil??) on the passenger side of the vehichle directly below where the CV boot is located. Any ideas on where to check for this leak or what the problem is. I also (very Rarely) get a rubbing noise from the front end while turning at low speeds, don't know if this is related. Any help to locate this leak is greatly appreciated!!! I don't want to cause any damage that can be prevented. nick capage 06-12-2004, 10:05 AM I was under my jeep the other day and noticed a couple drops of red fluid (felt thicker than tranny fluid, i am asuming gear oil??) on the passenger side of the vehichle directly below where the CV boot is located. Myrtle Beach 06-12-2004, 11:31 AM Thanks for the reply Nick, How big of a job is it?? (how much time will it take??) and is there anything special involved when doing this repair. ALSO, Do you know about how much that would cost to get fixed at the repair shop?? leowolf 06-13-2004, 04:51 PM the grinding sounds like the cv joint went bad, cv joints are often packed with red grease. Consult a manual before you try this job. I dont disagree with the last post, just make sure you check the cvs before going back together. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
