Bittergenius,

I have a 2001 R/T with all you are asking, but it is white. 60k miles with the 60K tuneup performed. Good rubber on the tires and in very good condition. I am looking for $10,500 but willing to negotiate. Interested or are you sticking to black?

Our son might buy a silver 2001 Status R/T this weekend. 50,000 miles on it. They drove it and it doesn't seem to have any problems. He got the dealer down to $9,000. Blue book shows $13,000 for retail price. This sounds like a really good deal. What do you think? Anything we should be looking out for?

The car is very solid in my opinion. There are a number nuisence items I know of to watch for. The auto dimming mirror is a known weak point. The biggest thing to look for is abuse. The car is very very fast for the money and if ran hard, you would hear rattling or knocking from the engine. In good shape, the engine sounds like a quiet vacume cleaner. Also listen for knocking from the CV joints. This can be determined by turning the wheels hard while at a dead stop and taking off quickly. If in shape, the CV's won't knock or click. Make sure you try it both directions.

Good luck.

Yingthai, thanks for your advice. We bought the car this weekend. Drove it, sounds quiet. We are having the brakes checked on Tues. They work fine but make a weird sound at the final braking point. It also needs paint touched up which dealer is going to do for us. I bought a 24 mo/24,000 mile warranty on it.

Hey Hey! The salesman tried to sell our son remote start with the car for about $800. Son said no thanks. Today son was looking at the keychain, it said Start A and Start B. He pressed both at once AND HE HAS REMOTE START! What a nice little bonus we didn't even know we had (and apparently the salesman didn't know it either!!)
