can someome please tell me which wires are which on a 01 Xterra 6 disk changer, im looking for a wiring diagram or if some one knows which is the remote wire and which is the power and ground. Iv never delt with a stereo that was so confusing before.

I here ya...welcome to the wonderful world of Nissan wiring logic. I have an 04 Xterra and I learned not to trust the volt meter when it comes to finding a ground. I did a continuity test between one of the wires and the chassis and it showed that it had connectivity; however when you turn on the ignition, it was now 12V...go figure.
If you are putting in an aftermarket deck, there are a few things that I learned. My OEM deck has no ground wire; it used the frame as a ground. I found this out when I plugged the OEM radio back in, and it wouldn’t turn on until the metal on the radio touched the frame.
My Xterra has 2ohm factory speakers; this of course would blow just about all the aftermarket decks out there (unless you use an external 2ohm stable amp).
I am unsure what the 2001’s have, but you might want to check it out just to be on the safe side.

I thank you for the info. yeah this is getting to be a real pain in the ass triing to figure out what is what. I dont want to change my radio i just want to hook up an amp and sub because the radio sounds like crap. I guess im just ignorant when it it comes to electronics.

Remote wire? You mean for the steering wheel controls? Those would be pins 9 (- yellow w/ black stripe) and 5 (+ yellow/red) on the 16-pin white connector.
Power connections (+) are pin 6 (red/yellow) directly from the battery, and pin 10 (green/red) switched from the ignition, and ground is via the unit's case. Pins 7 (- pink/black) and 8 (+ blue/red) connect to the illumination circuit for dimming control when the lights are on.
The 6-pin white connector supplies the rear speakers, while the white 10-pin connector supplies the front speakers, power, and illumination.

thankyou thankyou thankyou that was exactly the info i was looking for. what i ment by the remote wire was the ognition wire. Iv never realy delt with a stock radio, most of the radios iv delt with have a blue and white remote/ignition wire basicly the wire that turns of the amp when the car is turned off
