Credit/loans.longlivetheZ 06-09-2004, 11:12 PM The whole credit/loan thing just seems so impossible to me. There seems to be 3 options...1) an auto loan...either through a bank or a dealer for what they have on the lot...which usually sucks. If it doesn't suck, then they're probably like all the other dealerships when it comes to credit...which helps me NONE. Most banks won't loan for a car that's older then 1997...let alone a car that was made in the early to mid 90s. Option 2) a personal loan. It seems to me like, unless you have Bill Gates' credit score, you're going to get laughed out of the bank. Option 3) go to a "we'll finance anybody" kinda place...and...well...um....fuck that. I'm not going to pay a bunch of money every month for something I hate. I'll be 21 years old in about a month, have good, steady income, good driving record, and...like...C- credit, and a decent down payment, and it just seems like it's impossible. Not just for me, either...I don't see how ANYONE can do it. How did you guys buy your cars? I'd do ANYTHING for a Z32TT...and I have a snow ball's chance in hell of getting the loan for it. There's no way I can get an unsecured loan cuz my credit's not good enough (and don't go thinking it's way beyond horrible cuz it's not that bad...it's just not that GREAT, either), and most banks won't loan for a car that was made in the early to mid 90s, so there goes the option of an auto loan. The thing that really doesn't make sense to me is that I'm not asking for a ton of money...well...as far as cars go, at least...10-12 grand would be PLENTY...hell...I'd be THRILLED with 2 GRAND. I'm not trying to buy a damned Ferrari or anything! ~11,000 is less money then most people spend on a new CIVIC for God's sake. This is why I've come to this conclusion.....fuck it. I'll save up a couple grand (which I already have) and just pay cash for a Z31T. Does anyone A) know any tricks or secrets that I may be missing on this issue or B) know of anyone that's selling a 5 speed 86-89 Z31 turbo? This beater I'm driving now just sucks. freakonaleash1187 06-09-2004, 11:40 PM my mom's home equity loan is ending in 2 years so she just wrote an equity loan check for the amount of my car and now i am paying her $200 a month because that is how much her payments went up for her equity loan. i am only paying about 3% apr too. wish everything would work out for you like it did me. longlivetheZ 06-10-2004, 02:14 AM You got way lucky. I fucking wish I was that lucky. That would be SO nice. Even if I did manage to get a loan somehow, I would get ass-raped with the APR...but I'd do it anyway. StealthZ32 06-10-2004, 03:19 AM Well i took out a personal, i belive cause the auto loan wasnt supporting the year. not sure, dont remember why i didnt get it....anyway i got the personal loan and pay 206 a month. i forget the apr but at first i paid 180 cause i took out 8500 loan.. then i went back and took out a 95-10,000 loan and paid off the first and kept the change for some repairs and bills, so now im paying 206 for a 10k loan or something like that.. but anyway. thats what i did. give me your beater for free so i have something to drive while this Zproject gets underway and ill hook you hahahah .. anyway hope things pan out.. personal should work out, but apr is kinda high i think, depending on the bank longlivetheZ 06-10-2004, 09:36 PM No one will give me a personal loan. I've tried. I'd like to get rid of the beater if it would help get another Z, but I use it to deliver pizzas in. Don't wanna do that in a Z again...too much wear and tear. Although it didn't hurt my last one... StealthZ32 06-10-2004, 10:21 PM yeahgood call, im looking for a beater, i think i found a civi hatchback but who knows. freakonaleash1187 06-10-2004, 10:34 PM a good beater is a 240sx. there is plenty of cheap 240's out there. i just thought i would keep it in the family (don't get sick-minded on me people) if i got a beater car. longlivetheZ 06-10-2004, 11:18 PM 240s are getting kinda expensive now cuz of the drifter stuff getting all trendy. JCCR 06-10-2004, 11:43 PM getting a car loan should be easy! especially if your first time buyer. the only reason a bank wont give u a loan is if your loan is more than what the car is worth. the bank will check the vin # and check the value of the car also they will run a car fax and if the car has been floated or previously reck. if everything is fine and the car is worth more than what ur trying to borrow than u got it made. talk to your bank StealthZ32 06-10-2004, 11:52 PM i was thinking a 240 too longlivetheZ 06-11-2004, 12:10 AM JCCR, I'll try that...but I've never even gotten that far...they never even ask for my vin...cuz it's too old...they usually go by the age of the car, not the value...which makes NO sense to me. I'll try it anyway...worth a try. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-5/721024/s.jpg Found that in another thread.....that's funny. JCCR 06-11-2004, 12:34 AM yeah just go back to the dealer were the car is located and ask them for a buyers order they will fill out a form that has the vin# and the year and model and the total driveout$$$ for the car minus your down. then take that form to your bank longlivetheZ 06-11-2004, 01:03 AM Aight. I'll try that when/if I find a Z at a dealer. JCCR 06-11-2004, 09:28 PM go to autotrader.com you'll find plenty of Zs longlivetheZ 06-12-2004, 12:05 AM I know. I'm a very (maybe even TOO) regular visitor to that site...as well as a few others. Cars.com is pretty cool, too. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
