Unfortunately I mentioned it to the mechanic AFTER I had my transmission rebuilt. Seems the rear mail seal is a round (circular) seal that you can install without dropping the oil pan. Bad news is you have to remove the transmission. joeval 07-06-2004, 07:28 PM When it's the rear main seal the leak is large. You should be able to see the drip constantly. Might want to check how high the oil is coming from. Sometimes it leaks from other places and just follows the slope of the engine and will drip in the middle.
