Clutch problem on Evo7

At 9000km (6000 miles), the standard clutch gave up on my evo7 gsr. Apparently when I went to the workshop, they had already changed 3 other new evo7 clutches (one with a mere 5000km) due to the clutch giving up. Luckily they had a Kayaba racing clutch in stock but nothing else which I fitted. Damn jerky but the power is back with a vengeance.
- Has anyone heard or experienced the same problem.
- Are there any other clutches that would give me a good combination of durability, power and smoothness?
Also, my chassis number is no.6500, which was a nice number. How many more of the evo7s are they gonna build?

Where did u get ur clutch replaced & how much? I know that N1 Racing were selling the twin plate Cusco for RM 5300: air flown.
The 7's clutch is definitely the weakest link. Driven enthusiatically mine will never fail to give that burning smell...that's why I decided to give the car to my missus.

Got it from Amoil in Sunway for RM1500. They had one in stock. 1hr later someone else tried to buy it but he now has to wait 1 month!

Did they change the whole thing or just the clutch plate? How's the new clutch, is it marginally heavier than stock?

How much did you guys pay for the EVO 7 in Malaysia? Who do you take it to for service?
I am thinking of getting one in KL from Naza world and they are charging me 230,000RM. what do you think of the price?
Thanks

I take it to Amoil in Sunway for servicing. 230K sounds reasonable but you should be able to haggle down to RM220K. I only change the clutch plate itself as that is all they had in stock. It feels only marginally heavier but it is definitely jerkier, especially when accelerating hard although it seems to be holding up well as there is no longer any burning smell.

Do you know the name of the dealer who is selling the black Evo 7?
How long ago was this when they did have the black Evo 7 for sale and what is their asking price?
Since I am a expatriate and need to finance the car it is difficult for me to find a local guarantor! Otherwise I would have one in my driveway :(
Cheers

It wuz about 2 weeks ago & they offered 206K. Since the guy is not taking the car, they gave him until this month to find a new buyer or his 5K deposit will be forfeited.
I don't know the name of the shop but if u drive up Jalan Maarof enroute to Bangsar there's only about 2/3 car dealers on the left side. It must be one of the shops.

Both r 5 bolts. Standard specs for rims & tires:
Evo 5 - 17x7.5 +38 225/45 - 17
Evo 7 - 17 x 8 +38 235/45 - 17
If the aftermarket rims r 17/ 18 an offset between +30 to +36 should be ideal. 18 x 9 rims should be between +40 - +42

I went and checked out the dealers on that one street but didnt see any Black EVO 7's on the showroom. I cam across a dealer who had one in port Klang but is asking 235,000RM. Its a 2001 model. Is it a GSR or RS? Another dealer had a white one for 240k and a used silver Evo 7 for 100k with 9,0000 KM. Doesnt look like I can find the one for 206k :/ unless you have the dealers name or phone number. email me if you have info.
Thanks
