Ok yeah my 87 camry is great and all, but as of right now its just a temp till i get my honda. Instead of buying a different car to swap motors and shit, i was wonderign what kind of options i have available to swap into my 87. I dont want a V-6 either, so im lookin for 4 bangers. Any major performance enhancements i could do tothe stock 2 liter as well?

And tranny swaps-what kind of options do i have there. The auto is fun for just cruisin and eatin but im not about cruising...and eating :screwy: ...i have a suspicion one of my options is a 5 speed from a similar year celica, correct? any other tranny's that would fit?

This is just brainstorming here so nothing is set in stone, but it would be nice to not have to buy a new car to mod if there are options for my current one, yah know?

Hmmmm...impatient, aren't we? :p

Swapping an engine depends on your budget.

You can swap in a JDM 3SGE or you can go with a 3SGTE (turbo).

If you have a automatic tranny, definitely swap it for a manual.

If you can't find a Camry tranny. Celica tranny will work fine.

If you go with the turbo option, then you might want to find yourself either a E153 tranny (Solara) or a E52 tranny (Gen2 V6).

Budget for $3000-$4000 for the engine (with wiring harness & ECU), tranny, parts, and any labor; unless you plan to do it yourself. :naughty:

Good luck,
