On-board Diagnostics SystemIRISHMRCLEAN 06-04-2004, 07:04 PM I Recently Took My Car For An Inspection Sticker, It Passed, But, It Popped Up With A Code Because The Check Engine Light Was On. The Code Is P0171 Does Anyone Have A Clue What This Might Be? O2 Sensor Maybe?? I Apreciate Your Replys Brian R. 06-04-2004, 08:46 PM Try cleaning your MAF sensor. If this doesn't help, you may need to replace it. http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/main.asp?webtag=tacomaterritory&nav=messages&msg=95238.1&prettyurl=%2Ftacomaterritory%2Fmessages%3Fmsg%3D95 238%2E1 Erndog1369 06-04-2004, 09:12 PM P0171 is a system too lean code. I have replaced soo many mass air flow sensors because of this code. The Mass Mass Air Flow sensor is not reading correctly, showing that there is more air passing over it than there actually is. I have never been able to remedy this without replacing it. It's located on the intake air tube between the air filter and the throttle body. The part number is on the sensor. Write the number down and call around to find a good price on a new one. IRISHMRCLEAN 06-04-2004, 09:15 PM Thanks Guys Ill Try It IRISHMRCLEAN 06-04-2004, 09:27 PM Is Map Sensor And Maf Sensor The Same Thing? Daniel M. Dreifus 06-05-2004, 12:03 PM Is Map Sensor And Maf Sensor The Same Thing? Let's see if I understand this. My 4 cyl. Camry does not have a MAF sensor like the 6, it has only a MAP sensor. MAF = mass air flow - measures the air flow at a point between the air filter and throttle body and adjusts fuel accordingly MAP = manifold absolute pressure, measures vacuum in the intake manifold and adjusts fuel to the injectors accordingly. Both convert demand to electrical signals to be read by the computer. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
