Thats very true 03 350Z Touring. MY causin is getting a 350Z and REFUSES to get a MT. I tried convincing him, but he says "its too much work". I dont bealive in getting cars like the 350Z in AT. Its a true sports car!

may be that person should get a Toyota Corolla if driving real cars is too much work? Is the person a lady?

lol...it reminds me of the massive amount of automatic corvettes out there...if you are going to drive a sports car...a manual transmission is a must

Z_Fanatic
07-03-2004, 06:32 PM
well, auto on 350Z and 'vettes isn't half as bad as people forking $200K-300K for their Lambos and Ferraris just to get e-gears and F1 transmissions. Seriously, if you hate working clutch, don't buy supercars.

 Damn lazy docs and lawiars.

I'll bet your average auto-tranny, Z owner will beat down on manual driver any day. Yes, it's true that manual is technically faster, but majority of the manual, granny shifting wannabes are not capable of precision shifting that's required to beat an auto-tran. driving lead footer.

driving an automatic still takes most of the fun out of driving a sports car...

Z_Fanatic
07-08-2004, 05:23 PM
well this is why you LEARN TO DRIVE. if you know how to drive, you can have next to flawless timing. not all of us wear crazy dockers and put our right hand inside the pocket, and left foot on the brake.

the question is not y get automatic ehn u get a 350Z, but why get a 350Z if u want an automatic. 1 word: image. if u want to look good get a mustang convertible or some other POS... because their image is ruining the cars image... people wont see it as a sports car but a hairdressers car or one of those executives cars.... very sad

LilSlim said he had a cousin whos parents baught him a 350z and got an AT...my parents baught me a 350z in blue and AT, im 18, and i wont take anything but an AT mainly because i have not learned how to drive a stick shift. and i believe also it is a personal preference. (it is not a MUST have MT) it is however a big choice and must not be taken lightly... after thinking it over i decided to get AT because i believe it is too much work and i dont want to take the years of practice to get the friggin hang of it...THANK YOU..lol

P.S. lilslim tell your cousin i said hey (us AT lovers got to stick together) lol

Years? Too much work? Ya i can see you are not a true driver... You are probably one of those people that drive to show the car and speed to look cool.... Sad

350z AT Silver Touring Owner with full Nismo kit
Age 18
I love manuel, and I took my driving test in DMV with a manuel car and pass it the first time. Reason i bought a AT instead of a manuel:
1. My dad's money, he said a new driver will be better driving AT than manuel so he can focus on the road more. (reduce chance of serious accident deal to fresh (bad) driving skill such as myself.)
2. From Hong Kong ( a city which no one has a chance to ride in a car other than a taxi unless u are seirously rich), so basically less experience than US guys who ride in one from the day they born.
3. My mom owns a BMW 325 AT and she can't drive manuel, if something happened to her car, we can share the z till her car is fixed, that happened twice. (She broke all my underbody neon light in a week T.T) Trying not to be selfish since i'm not paying for it.
4. MT will provoke young driver such as myself to race (my dad's thought), he loves the car himself, that's why he pays the check without thinking, but he wants me to be a non-aggressive driver (I never go under speed limit so... keke)
5. AT isn't slow, all my friends who doesn't know how to drive a MT can taste the torque without knowing how to shift a MT.
6. My dad's barget for my first car is under 20k, I'm already happy when he paid the 32k check, I might end up with a civic or a camry if i argue more.....
Whole family is happy and i consider it as a gain rather than a lose. If I seriously hurt someone's feeling, he/she can call me and install a MT for me anytime, I'm going to college next year, so my mom won't drive it anymore ^_~, and i didn't get a single ticket for the last 11 months, enough to proof to my dad that i'm a decent driver.

I have read some customer reviews on other sites and the subject of tranny problems with the Z. Some people have even had the problem with the tranny that was used to replace the original. I don't know if it is a systematic problem but I can assume that Nissan like any other car company is trying to get their production variance within 95%....

Buying a Z with an AT takes away from the fun of driving the car but I suppose a compromise for ATer Z drivers is that the AT has a dummy shift.... Strictly for the Execs. I suppose.....

clever... Back to your question. I dont think auto should be used for tricks or such things as burning out. The car suffers more damage from it. And if your into driving the manual is the way. But i read how you only want it to show off.

PS: im not the one calling ppl names and telling them to F off... anyways. I say you sell your automatic and get a manual. Real drivers drive manual. End of story

nothing wrong with a AT Z they are great cars and can perform at any type of track or road course, just like a manual.

now thats the end of story....

Another so called "driver"... I agree with whoever mentioned a car turning into a hairdresser type of thing. People that do that Ruin the image of the car... And this isnt the first time i hear someone have that opinion.
