86 300zx mod suggestionsHamboy81 06-04-2004, 04:44 AM Whats up, I just bought an 86 NA 300zx 5 spd, its pretty clean I got it for a steal at 2,250. It has 140k, clean leather interior, and great body, shiny pewter paint and everything. As my first real car I like it a lot, but I was wondeirng what are some things I could do with it that wouldn't be too expensive but would also be fun. Anything cosmetic or for performance. Here are some pics of it. Also any other suggestions for a new Z31 owner would b cool. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/501/190971114_1432_2_2-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/190971114_1433_22-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/190971c-med.JPG Karen512 06-04-2004, 08:45 AM Wow, I have an 85 turbo the same color. Believe it or not, that seem sto be a rare color. Congrats on the Z, you'll love her!! Although the 85 rims are much cooler!!! :smokin: 1viadrft 06-04-2004, 06:06 PM Nice Z31!!!! Get some JDM Watanabe rims! I have seen them go for as little as $400 a set used! Other than that I would not know what to do with a Z31.... sorry! Get some mods on it! Try Stillen or JWT! Get a BLITZ intake or exhuast! STILLEN Z31 Parts (http://stillen.com/sportscars_products.asp?make_id=23&model_id=280&StartYear=1984&EndYear=1989&cat=2&BodyFilter=&Brand=) Jim Wolf Technology Z31 Parts (http://jimwolftechnology.com/customer_results.asp) longlivetheZ 06-04-2004, 11:30 PM I used to have an 86 2+2 and LOVED THAT CAR....but my self loathing and stories of regret of selling it is a whole post in itself. AAAAAAAAAAAAAnyway..... It's an N/A, so you have 2 real options if you ever plan on making it anywhere near fast. Oh yea....you got an alirght deal on it....I got my 86 2+2 for 2,700 bucks, it only had 118,000 miles on it, and it was like NEW. 1) Turbo it. Not practical. Forget it. 2) Mod the SHIT out of it. Intake, exhaust, cams, over-bore, new heads......whatever......shit like that. I'm a firm believer that it is possible to make the N/A Z31 somewhat fast...it's just not as easy as when you have a turbo. As far as cosmetic goes, lower it, get some after market 17's (or even 18s...your not trying to make a rocket, so rim size isn't really a factor), tint the windows, and skip the body kits....there aren't many out there for the Z31 and I think the ones that are out there look like poop...but that's just my two cents. Go to kaminari.com to see one...the only one I can think of off hand. You can do the "headlights down 'mod'"...involves unplugging something under the dash so your lights don't pop up when you turn them on but still will pop up when you hit the button...I like it. You want details, lemme know. That's about all I can think of right now. I WANT ANOTHER Z31!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats amigo. longlivetheZ 06-04-2004, 11:34 PM Although the 85 rims are much cooler!!! :smokin: I like the 86 rims the best......especially the turbo ones....they're the shizass....er something. ZedEx 06-04-2004, 11:50 PM I would take a Z31... I almost bought an '87 turbo... But I took some measurements, and it wouldnt be possible for me to fit in it (I have to custom mount all of my seats, im far too tall to be driving these damn small cars!) For some reason the Z32's mounting was much easier. O well, good looking Zed man, you'll love it! -Wes longlivetheZ 06-04-2004, 11:57 PM I Want The 87!!!!!! I Can Fit In It!!!!!!!! Karen512 06-04-2004, 11:58 PM I like the 86 rims the best......especially the turbo ones....they're the shizass....er something. Whatever, 85 turbo rims are nicer than the 86, by far, but of course that is just my opinion. (But I think I'm right!) longlivetheZ 06-05-2004, 12:01 AM HA.........ok.........I'm starting a new thread with a poll......it's on, now......:-D ZedEx 06-05-2004, 12:20 AM Both of those wheels are ugly as Janet Reno. If not worst :D Z32 alloys are the way to go... Haha -Wes longlivetheZ 06-05-2004, 12:25 AM I like the 86 T rims better then the Z32 rims, personally. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
