Hello and thanks in advance

I have a 1992 ChevyAstro Vin Z that will not restart after long trips of 1 hour or more unless I wait at least 2 hours short rides it is fine. I am sure it is fuel pump related because when it does not start I do not hear the fuel pump when I turn the key. Any starting point for trouble shooting would be appreciated :banghead:

I believe there is a relay, located under hood, for the fuel pump. If it is failing, I think this would cause the symptons that you are seeing.

It is the fuel pump. I had the same thing happen on my 1995 astro while driving to florida from new york.
the pump bearings get "warm" over a long period of time which causes the bearings to swell which causes the pump to seize up temporarily after you shut the key off. After it cools down over a period of time it works again like nothing is wrong. Then you drive again and it happens all over again.
Change the pump and the problem is solved
