1998 Jimmy Shifting Trouble

I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy that has 140K miles. I take good care of it and maintain it regularly, though I am not easy on it. Recently, the transmission began to show signs of not wanting to go into passing gear.

The other day, travelling up hill around 40 MPH, I tried to pass a cement truck. I stood on the gas and the truck never went into passing gear. It continued to be weak on power when mashing the gas at a steady speed.

Since this time, I have had the transmission looked at, and it showed no problems on a computer. Other possibilities have been a clogged catalytic converter, or low fuel pressure from the pump (one year old).

Any thoughts to this FRUSTRATING problem?
