I have a 99 astro van. would not start yesterday morning but did later that day. I checked filter and it was really blocked. thought the problem was solved. My wife now tells me it is acting like it is bogged down like a fuel problem. How/where is the fuel pressue checked on this van?

Also (this one has been a pain in my neck for months). In the morning I have a chatter. I can see the tensioner snapping. This occurs for 30-40 seconds on some mornings and is gone. I have replaced both rider pullies and the alternator. This does not change if the AC is on or off so I assume it is not that. My next guess is the Power steering. Has this jamming action occured to anyone else? thanks.

Could be a weak fuel pump, valve is located at rear of engine on main inlet fuel line next to return line (pull bonnet for access) pressure should be 50-61 pounds...with 61 at "snap throttle" (a fast push of the throttle)

I have been having the same problem. Morning start-up blues, I replaced my fuel pump $500, and problem not solved. I did read that if you keep you tank full then the problem is less likely to occur. Take that for what it's worth, I went out this morning and it started fine but who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Hello...one other thing regarding fuel delivery problems (hard starting especially when cold), with fuel pressure guage connected, (prime) and start engine , THE FUEL PRESURE SHOULD NOT DROP WHILE EXCELERATING, if it does drop then the fuel pump is bad...in other words, if the motor idles at 55 PSI and you push your foot on the throttle and the pressure drops to below 55 ...replace it as it is not keeping up with demand. It only takes a few pounds out of spec to cause problems.
Now go to work!

Hello....you say that you replaced your fuel pump!
Well, now you need to check the condition of your pressure regulator, find the return line from your fuel injection/regulator, then crimp the rubber hose portion which you will find under the vehicle next to the transmission, with a pair of vise grips "but not too tight as to damage hose" next turn engine over if fuel pressure goes above 70 pounds "shut engine down!!!! Now!!!!...this means you have a bad regulator, if pressure does not rise above normal 55-61 PSI..then fuel pump is bad....
Get her fixed!
