Going down the road and the pedal goes nearly to the floor thought I was in the races or at least my Jeep did! Its a 1986 Chief Cherokee 4X4, 6 cyl. 5 speed...I got it towed into a mechanic he seems to think it has a short in the switch the arm that has my blinkers cruise controls, wipers and so he cut the wire to the cruise control and disconnected the cruise control from under the hood. I have to drive thirty miles home in the dark after work and I am afraid maybe there might be something else causing this.Theres no Jeep mechanics in this one horse town. is there something else that could cause this? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

read alot about problems with cruise control, alot of the problems due to shorts. Just wondering why the mechanic did'nt just pull the fuse.
