ZJ's: most mileage / major repairsAZFlyingDiver 06-01-2004, 04:01 PM Hey All, Thought it'd be interesting to ask how many miles your ZJ has and what MAJOR repairs you've had to do over the years... Me: 96ZJ I-6 4.0 2WD 141000+ miles replaced radiator/hoses (at 83000 miles), then water pump later (at 132000 miles); driver side power window tape broke at 117000 miles... other than that, no major repairs, just routine maintenance and replaceables (tires, lightbulbs, battery, etc.)... not too bad, i think... camodiak 06-01-2004, 08:25 PM 97 jgcl I-6 4.0 4x4 130000 just bought a few months ago front track bar front swaybar bushings coming soon..... radiator new oil lines tires shocks rear swaybar bushings radio :banghead: thats it, i think. tim 95Orvis 06-01-2004, 08:32 PM 95 JGC Orvis, 5.2L QuadraTrac currently has 159,000miles. Besides consumables.... 1) Transfercase rebuilt, poorly I might add, by dealer at 120,000 for the sum of $2,300. I know, don't remind me, I got screwed. Read on and you'll see how bad. 2) Waterpump at around 110,000 miles. 3) I had the 2 front axles replaced in the last six months but I'm not positive they were a real problem. Although at 159,000 they were on their way. My noise is actually coming from the transfercase again I beleive. Final diagnosis will come Thursday. 4) Do I do the transfercase again is the question? This time however it will not be by the dealer nor will it be rebuilt by the mechanic. It will be a rebuilt & guaranteed one from the infamous guy in Long Island who runs Transfer Cases Unlimited. Left him a message today. All in all, for 160,000 miles, honestly, I can't complain too bad. Fuzzzb75 07-08-2004, 04:19 PM Okay.....don't know what kind of work was done as I didn't get it until to long ago. All I did so far myself was just a full tune-up and replaced the Valve cover gasget as that was leaking. I bought it cause I needed something to localy move stuff around and I'm loving it. Other then an small oil leak, that will be the next repair it is running amazing for the.....hold on to your hat...306,000+ miles that it has on it. remoblades 07-12-2004, 11:38 AM What?!@#$ I've never seen any car with over 300,000 miles on it. That bodes well for many ZJ owners. I plan to run mine into the ground if she lets me. I love this truck. Fuzzzb75 07-12-2004, 08:08 PM If I get a chance I'll take some pics, including the odometer. Think I'll take my 2 weeks vacation though and weather permitting do some work to it. I'll put up what I do/have to do to it, to give a better impression what a 306K milage ZJ needs. To start have to find where it's leaking oil, and why it's burning some too. But 1/2 quart in 2000 miles is in my opnion not that bad. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
