1988 jeep cherokee cutting outartheljr 05-31-2004, 06:31 PM My 1988 cherokee is cutting out pretty bad. Usually when I back out of the driveway and pull off and when I run it around 55 to 65 mph. Idles fine and runs fine other than cutting out. What should I try first? scarey1966 06-07-2004, 01:22 AM did you manage to get the cutting out problem sorted? my one does exactly the same thing and I would love to know what the problem is. I have changed the coil, ht leads, etc to no avail artheljr 06-07-2004, 08:43 AM did you manage to get the cutting out problem sorted? my one does exactly the same thing and I would love to know what the problem is. I have changed the coil, ht leads, etc to no avail I thought I had the problem solved...the O2 sensor was unplugged...so I plugged it in and it ran fine for a couple of days. Then started cutting out again. I changed the fuel filter and now im gonna do a tune up and go from there to see if I can weed out the problem. If i figure it out I will be sure to let you know. I may even replace that O2 sensor...there may be a bad connection there. You might want to check your CPS too because that went out on my other jeep and I had similiar problems. Hope this helps. pdigiacinto 06-12-2004, 11:58 AM I agree.. Mine did the same thing and I needed to replace my Crank Position Sensor (CPS). artheljr 06-13-2004, 06:36 PM I believe that will be the next thing I try. Thanks for all of your help. artheljr 07-16-2004, 04:28 PM did you manage to get the cutting out problem sorted? my one does exactly the same thing and I would love to know what the problem is. I have changed the coil, ht leads, etc to no avail JULY 19, 2004.....I just got my jeep back from the shop today and I think they may have fixed it. Seems there was a recall some years back and mine didnt get the repair it needed. There are some wires up next to the fire wall that had to be re-soidered and the TPS had to be reset. Wish me luck...hope this solves the problem. Only set me back $175. mybicepsarehuge 07-26-2004, 11:48 PM hey man...what about this recall?? explain more...what year jeeps? any specific models such as laredos?? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
