My 96 Blazer died, and we replaced the fuel pump, but it seems as though there is a short somewhere, as the battery had drained, and we can't here the pump run with the key on. It turns over, but that is all. Another guy had replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributer cap, rotor, pcv valve, serpentine belt, fuel pump. We had it running for a while after that, but with bad gas mileage, and a little rough. The "check engine" light was always on, too. Then it just died while idling, and now our hands are tied. Please help!

I had a similar problem. Follow the wiring back to the fuel tank/pump. I suspect a wire is cut and shorting against the chassis.
