Perhaps you forgot Mazda made a rotary powered pickup. I know you don't think the rotary belongs in anything but a Mazda, so even you should approve of the swap. Some people actually enjoy tinkering with their cars (and then actually driving them). I think a killer rotary pickup would be great fun. The '89 TII is a wonderful engine and should be a lot of fun in your truck. I don't know how it will fit in the engine bay but you should have very little problem. It may be easier to get a custom (shorter) driveshaft made than moving the engine forward. Any driveshaft shop should be able to put the front from the RX7 shaft on the rear from the truck. Should run about $150. The hardest part in my swap was the wiring. If you are going to use a stock ECU I may be able to help. Once you know which wires go where, it is a very easy hook up. If it does not have to pass smog it is even easier. Since the motor is low torque, it is easy to fab up some custom motor mounts. It is easy to make them stronger than necessary. Put the engine in the truck and suspend it with a cherry picker. Crawl under the truck and look for convenient places to weld/bolt in a custom mount. On your truck you should be able to attach almost anywhere on the frame. Just make sure the tranny output isn't too far out of level with the original tranny or you will eat driveshafts (u-joints) and have some horrible noises and vibrations. If the angles are way off, you may be able to shim the rearend to bring it in line. You will want at least a three inch exhaust. Should be easy to run under the truck. Make sure the radiator can handle the rotary. They tend to run hotter than a piston. It should be a very simple swap. Let me know how it goes. When it is running perhaps you can race Soyo. Maybe his car will be running by then. doucmehu 05-29-2004, 05:11 PM All I have to say is good luck, your truck looks really nice. I would like to see it with some larger black wheels, though!! Hope you can get this plan up and running. Soyo 05-29-2004, 09:42 PM dude I didn't flame anyone, I said "not to be a dick" at the beginning and "just curious" at the end how is that flaming? I just wanted to know what he wanted to do with it dang, seems your the one flaming me for being curious thecoolestofdudes 06-05-2004, 12:52 AM b2600i trans 5 speed 2wd 87 and up needed seems as though this will help the swap rx bell housing truck trans and tail shaft!? yes no mabey comments Soyo 06-05-2004, 02:10 AM you should enter it in the busch truck series when your done, although I doubt rotaries are allowed, they aren't in most races :( everyone is just scared of them, thats why vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
