I got 3 rockford fostgate 10 inchers 150 rms 400 peak 4 ohm impendence what I am wonedering is if I could parallel 2 together (giving 2 ohm load) and then just run the other sub directly at 4 ohms....would they sound diffrent or would this be allright or would it be better to bridge the amp and then just wire nut all the speaker lines into one? what kind of load would this make on the amp?

A highfonics Brutas mono channel....500 watts at 1 ohm. Is that rms or peak? I need 450 rms preferably close. If i parallel them all i get a 1.33 load so that would be roughly 400. Would this make a good amp for my subs?

I wouldn't try that, technically it could work, but it's really pushing it. Your best bet is a mono

That Brutus is good, it puts out 500rms @ 1ohm, which would give you around 375 @ 1.33ohm. It could work, but somthing that does 6-700x1 @ 1ohm would work better.

I am a perminent elemental designs fan, so I say try out the new nine.1. About $268 shipped. Runs 1400watts rms according to the staff.

this amp is the only amp i have found that runs close to what I need every other amp I find runs well over what my subs are rated for. I don't want to burn them out either. It would be considerably better than what I am using now anyway :) Do you know any amp that would work better than this?

Hifonics nemesis 750 rms at 1 ohm 375@2 ohms. Would this make a better choice or would it be to much power? Wouldn't it actually be lower than 750 due to heat and stuff? which would you use? Rockford suposibly underrates its stuff so would it hold up to this?

750@1ohm will give you 560@1.33ohm

That should work fine, 40 watts over the rating per speaker won't make any difference, and if it does those are shitty subs that need to be replaced anyway ;)

running speakers overpowered will not harm them, unless you are putting distorted power to them. If you run it with the gains to match the voltage and keep the bass low enough you are fine.

Having an amp that has a higher rating than your subs is a good thing. This will give you what they call "head room” meaning that you don't have to turn the gains all the way up to hear the music. Plus if later on you want to upgrade the subs to something with a higher power rating, you don't have to go out and buy another amp.
I keep all of the gains on my amps at about 50%. This gives me a cleaner sound with less hiss and distortion.
If you have to turn your amp gains all the way up to get your speakers as loud as you want, you need bigger amps.
On the other hand, if you put a good amp to cheep speakers, you will get crap. If you put a cheap amp on nice speakers you will still get crap. It’s that whole “your system is only as good as your cheapest component.”

50% gain does not mean 50% power, in fact it rarely does. In my setup, if I had my gains at 50% they would be clipping very heavily if I ever turned the volume past 20-30 (it goes up to 62). My gains are properly set and they're at about 20%, if I turned it up any higher they would start clipping before I hit the max unclipped volume on the headunit, and if I had them any lower they would never hit max output without the headunit clipping first.

wuld it be even better to go with a 1000 watt nemesis or would this be to overboard?

It's all in your control. You can stick an amp capable of making 2000rms on a 200 watt rated sub as long as you know what you're doing. If you have a tendency to just crank the gain because it gets louder that way, then you shouldn't be overpowering your subs at all or you'll just end up blowing them.

well I am not looking to have crazy bass like most people I just want good sound quality and I haven't fooled with gains very much yet. I think I would be allright with the 750 nemesis but It wouldn't hurt to have a bigger amp If i upgrade my subs later on or something. What do you think of Hifonics amps?

Should be pretty solid

Just for reference, in my future setup I'll be using a sub that can handle 1600 watts thermally, but in the box I'm putting it in it can only handle ~800 watts before maximum excursion. I'll be using a 1500 watt amp on it with very conservative gains, mostly for future upgradeability and headroom. As long as you know what you're doing you can use as much power as you want, it also has to do with how the sub's power handling is rated (thermal or mechanical). In your case I would go with the 750w, just to be on the safe side of things, atleast until you really know what you're doing later on.

what box is that? What sub?

Brahma 15 in ~2.5cf sealed on a Cadence ZRS-8

Edit: oh yeah, I guess I haven't posted my upgrade plans here yet...I put them on ICIX and a few other forums I'm on, just not here. I'll put up a new thread in a month or so with the whole setup, pics, thoughts, etc. Everything is being replaced, headunit, both amps, components, sub, etc.
