Does anyone know where to find a step by step guide to building an ls/vtec? If not, does anyone know of any good books that can walk you through it?

There is no real book on doing an LS VTEC set up. Its pretty much just changing the head and adding some dowel pins. Theres more to it though. Head gasket, wiring, torque

Those sites all give you a pretty good idea of what to do. The last one is actually a b20, but it's the same process.

yes since LS PR4/P75 ecu doesn't have vtec

Are the ITR and GSR heads the same?

No, ITR and B16 heads are the same, with the ITR head just having a beefed up valvetrain and a factory port/polish.

What ECU would work best for a LS VTEC?

a P72 (GSR), P73 (ITR), or chipped P28 (SOHC VTEC) work best from what I've heard. The USDM ITR ecu is only OBD II though, but I believe there are some JDM P73s that are OBD I.

I was reading something about the Vtec cylinder intake manifolds having like 2 differen sets of runners, one that opens up when the vtec engages. Is this true, because i did actully see a picture of it. So if i was doing the swap, would i need the new manifold

The GSR intake manifold is the one with the dual runners. You'll need the new manifold if you're going with any VTEC head though.

Unless your using the same manifold that came with the head.
