installed my short shifterwhtcivic93 05-25-2004, 11:09 PM yeahhh its the shit.. if you dont have a short shifter, get one.. i went with what i could get now, which was a APC short shifter at pep boys but it works and its still better than the stock one... im happy with it for now jameskersten 05-25-2004, 11:21 PM i have to agree its a great upgrade for the d series trans. but we might start a pro/cons of short shifter debate here. i believe they could cause some excessive wear to your synchrose(sp?). whtcivic93 05-26-2004, 12:31 AM yeah ive heard a lot of things about short shifters causing your gearbox to mess up, affecting your tranny and all kinda stuff but has anyone actually had any problems caused from a short shifter? first hand, personally had problems, not "i heard about this one time"...blabla jameskersten 05-26-2004, 10:10 AM i have never had problems nor met anyone but you do hear about it from time to time on websites like honda-tech.com PoisonFangs 05-26-2004, 11:09 AM I know a bunch of people that have them and have had no problems. But i have heard of the issue before. and you never know if the install was just a little wrong or if when they shift they are pretty much trying to put the shift knob through the dash. whtcivic93 05-26-2004, 07:18 PM yep thats true it all depends on the driver and how they treat it jameskersten 05-26-2004, 08:29 PM i dont think anyone can directly blame a short shifter for trans problems but i have heard of people installing a SS and like 6months later their synchros go, related? proubly but i cant prove it. xAUTOxRACERx 05-26-2004, 09:15 PM It could be a possibility but who knows the synchros could have been old already! CivicSpoon 05-26-2004, 09:31 PM ...or if when they shift they are pretty much trying to put the shift knob through the dash. Haha maybe I shouldn't get a short shifter then, that's how I drive. I slam the thing into gear, my buddy yells at me whenever I do it in front of him. But I don't really care about the motor or tranny since it's a 70hp slow dog. jameskersten 05-26-2004, 09:55 PM It could be a possibility but who knows the synchros could have been old already! exactly. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
