Well here it is my Skyline in progress. This is my first progress thread so help me out, but its not my first model. Im also currently working on a Fujimi Integra, which is my first model and is almost done (just needs painting and a little touch up). The reason you dont see any of the model actually put togeather is becuase I dont have any more glue :disappoin but since i got bored I started painting some parts  Im still thinking of some colors I might want to paint it, so if you have any ideas dont hesitate to post em. Heres the pix:

Looks pretty good. I suggest some bigger rims. They always suit a Skyline very well :iceslolan

i kinda like the rims the way they are

{(itchy)}{finger}
05-26-2004, 11:33 PM
like brilliant blue (TS-44?) or (TS10) or (TS23) or (TS54) .... I dont really like the first two... its your choice... (i would pick something with metal flake)

PyRoTeKniKz
05-26-2004, 11:59 PM
Yea I want something shiny that'll stick out so metal flake would be good.

05-27-2004, 02:17 PM
Blue always looks nice on a Skyline. It's not a very risky color, if done properly you already know it'll look nice. Midnight purple is the same thing. I like the exhaust btw. Does that come with the kit??? I think not...

Yea I want to take it as slow and carefully as possible since its my first paint job I want it as close to perfect as possible lol, I did the wet and final coat of primer. Here some pix for those of you who care
I think it went on pretty smooth for my first time..
http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/5310/r3321.JPG
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/7239/r3322.JPG
Here is the method im using(just felt like posting it)
1. Sand w/ 600 grit
2. Primer (light coat)
3. Wet sand primer w/ 1000 grit
4. Primer (heavier coat)
5. Wet sand second primer w/ 2000 grit
6. 2 mist coats of paint
7. Wet sand paint w/ 2000 grit
8. 2-3 wet coats of paint
9. 2 shots of Clear coat
10. Polish

:feedback:

Bas Carwash

Yup, that's the way you should do this. Make sure the last time sanding is very smooth. It's important for the final smoothness of the paint.

It's amazing! How do you paint these molded-in parts. I'm having a whole bunch of problems doing it right! Brushed or masked and airbrushed?

Although it looks like this car will look just amazing when done. Keep up the good work ;)

Thanx all for the comments,

Renagade - For the molded in parts I brush them becuase there pretty small parts and since i dont have an airbrush :p I mask them off with some 3M painters tape becuase it sometimes bleeds if you aply to much

the primer looks supersmooth and ready for paint. Awesome so far, just make sure not to put too much paint and keep the panel lines nice and deep, don't clog them up.

Update:
Got the body shot with two mist coats of paint, waitin for tommorow to do the wet coats. I painted it DupliColor Light Blue Pearl or somthin(dont kno exactly, I'll look it up if anybody wants to kno) I kinda messed up since I didnt kno the color was gonna be this bright so I had dark grey primer but I really dont think it made a difference after looking at it, and also if it was any brighter it wouldnt look good.
Heres some pix (notice the pearl :naughty: )

thats a freakin "A" PyRo. But that color doesnt really give u the flake that u wanted, but everything came out excellant and the body is nice and smooth, u gonna detail the interior?

Great job homie!

PyRoTeKniKz

Im not goin that far with the interior, I painted the front seats and thats mostly the biggest detail in it..heres a pic of it completed:

Also I'm almost done with the blue so I was wondering if i should clear coat the car before or after I paint the lip black, and the window rubber things?

IImportSupra

I recomend you do the Rubbers Last, If you clear it, you might run the risk of bubbling black paint.

Interior looks clean.

I didnt get much progress in lately since I been busy with other things but I started up again and was wondering if I should wet sand the last wet coat of paint before I do the clear or should I follow what I had before because the sparkles in the paint bump out so would that make clear bumpy also? (<-- Also let me kno if that makes sense heh)
This is wat I was using b4:
1. Sand w/ 600 grit
2. Primer (light coat)
3. Wet sand primer w/ 1000 grit
4. Primer (heavier coat)
5. Wet sand second primer w/ 2000 grit
6. 2 mist coats of paint
7. Wet sand paint w/ 2000 grit
8. 2-3 wet coats of paint
9. 2 shots of Clear coat
10. Polish

Please let me know, Thnx

Bas Carwash
06-16-2004, 11:54 AM
Nice way to do it. But forget the clear coat. It hasn't really got any use. If you gave it some good wet coats you can polish it right after that. I used clear coat before to, but I really hate that stuff now.

way to dig up an OLD thread, I'm pretty sure this one has been completed by now. the last post was 3 years ago!

I'm sure you are new to the forums, and I'll give you that, but really, you should pay attention to the post dates when doing a search for your items of interest. generally if the post is more than a couple months old. it is likely not a good idea to bring it back to life. you COULD private message the person you are making your comment to.
