I have a rail buggy with a 1500 SP ('67). I had to pull the clutch off to inspect both it and the flywheel. I know I need a clutch alignment tool to get it right but I dont have one. I read that an old input shaft would work good, but I dont have one of those either and the closest place I could even try to get one is an hour and a half away. Im no expert at all, but are the tools the same size for all clutches of are different makes different sizes. I know Im probably rambling on but I could really use some help

Thanks in advance,

(I know my name is EG_Civic, thats my daily driver. I have taken the plunge into VW's and love it :D)

Each manufacturer (& model) uses different spline patterns & shaft diameters. You can get a universal tool that has tapered cones for the cluth disc splines & screw on ends for the pilot bearing for fairly cheap at most automotive stores. Actually, I've been in a pinch on the road & used a long 3/8" socket extension I wrapped electrical tape on the end to fit in the pilot bearing & wrapped a few inches up the shaft so the splines on the clutch fit snugly & it worked fine.
