'69 Monte Carlo R8 GORDINI progressGT-Alex 05-25-2004, 07:08 AM This is a resurected progress, i finally stripped the messed paint job and reprimed it. It'll be build box stock except ignition wires and new roll-cage to replace the vinyl (!) one. I also changed the wheels for minilite ones. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_0031.jpg I think it's the first one here. bigfrit 05-25-2004, 07:20 AM Waoh! I love that car! is it the heller kit / reboxed as wave kit? I d like to see how the other pieces in that kit are, before I smack down some hard euros on trying to buy one... could you tell me about the quality of it? Well, knowing it has got a vynil rollcage and sucky wheels... wont be that good tho??? or am I wrong? Olivier GT-Alex 05-25-2004, 07:37 AM It's the wave kit with cartograph decal (original ones are wellowed !) so i must build the no 89 car, or a street version as i changed the wheels. Seats and roll cage are vinyl, and all the chrome tree need a lot of work and alclad. Engine is basic but there. And it's the only kit of that car i've seen. The most funny is that the box says "maquette plastique très détaillée" ! If you find it give it a try, it's rare. Even in real i've seen only one in several years. mel79 05-25-2004, 10:02 AM Interesting project! I've been wondering if you'll make a progress thread ever since I saw the Gordini in your project list. -Mikko levincer 05-25-2004, 10:09 AM Very Very nice model, please keep us updaded. On a french magazine called 'Rétro Viseur' of june there is a great 10 pages articles on this fabulous car vary rare and expensive in real life too. Lapo did u saw this thread ? blueboost 05-25-2004, 11:38 AM well that sure is a funny lookin lil car. Lets see what you can do with it. I'll be chkin the progress :p deedlit 05-25-2004, 11:44 AM That's an interesting project :bigthumb: I'll follow it carefully, I love old european cars so much :) GT-Alex 05-27-2004, 08:16 AM I applied final coat of testors french blue (still wet here). I personnaly find it too dark but i've seen different shade of blue on gordini's, and maybe with the white stripes and chrome parts it'll look lighter. What do you think ? http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_0101.jpg DJPaul 05-27-2004, 11:40 AM Very original build. I'll be following it. labandabonnot 05-27-2004, 12:27 PM Oh my Gord'!!!!!!!!* I never thought I could see one here!   The paint looks good to my eyes, but I wish there would be more of these kits on the market just to see (or better: make!) one painted like it can be seen on some old pics: very faded blue... I'd really like to know what Datsun 510 lovers think about this other legendary "shoe's box"... (*Gordini) GT-Alex 05-28-2004, 11:37 AM Oh my Gord' LOL :lol2: Well, little update, the stripes are on now. I had to airbrush them because the decals wre not long enough. Hopefully i was able to make a clean job spraying white over blue. Just need to clearcoat it. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_0141.jpg Now it starts looking like a real gord' 675datsun 05-28-2004, 12:10 PM I've never seen this car before but it looks tight. Reminds me of a Cortina or Herald up front. Nice paint choice and the stripes look good from here. Where did you score those Minilites, I want some! What kind of engine does it have? Suspension? Any pics? I like it! Samurai75007 05-28-2004, 12:20 PM Iv never seen this car ether, looks cool got to keep an eye on this. Renegade 05-29-2004, 12:43 AM  haha, drove quite a lot of miles in this car. Where did you get it? It look cool ;) EMAXX 05-29-2004, 11:47 AM I've never seen that car before. Looks great though. I love that body style, and the car looks kick ass. Can't wait to see the car done. stump 05-29-2004, 05:15 PM Wow....what a sic project, that looks sooooooo kool. Can't wait to see this little "pocket rocket" done. cheers stump DoubleFourValve 05-29-2004, 07:13 PM Well this is a very cool project from an interesting car. I´m sure the engine has some intersting Webbers to detail?! Pleeease??!!! JBarry 05-30-2004, 12:01 AM Cool build happening here. I don't think I've ever seen one in my life. Great paint job and I'm feeling those stripes. The idea of a roll bar in this car cracks me up. It looks like it couldn't go over 40. It's a real sleeper I'm sure. If I owned a real one, I would have it painted flat black :) Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more progress on this cool build. J. Barry GT-Alex 06-01-2004, 03:35 PM Thank to everyone for the kind comments. To answer the questions, i ordered the kit from a french company (don't remember the name, it was 3 years ago), the minilite wheels are from a mini cooper, and even if the car "looks like it couldn't go over 40", it's a triple-winner of the monte carlo rally (64,65,66). engine is a 1300cc atmo. Well, back to the model: i'm not very proud of it, i messed the clearcoat. I also made a mistake while placing the trunk hinges, so i had to remove the airbox (i'll make some different air filters to fit under the trunk. anyway, here are the pics: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_021.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_0191.jpg 675datsun 06-01-2004, 04:17 PM Whoa! Cross-flow head and the engine is in the back!!! Nice work on the chrome side trim bigfrit 06-02-2004, 07:51 AM beautiful Gorde! dunno but the pics show this great shine on it, can t really see what is wrong with it... engine looks decent too, and with the well done sides , is it BMF or just glue on chrome stuffies? Keep it up Olivier GT-Alex 06-06-2004, 12:57 PM update: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_026.jpg Decals are wrong (fender sponsors :screwy: ) and very thick, unsensible to micro sol. Next step is the interior, and then a good weathering to hide the messed (again) panel lines. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
